Best Western Royal Hotel Caen

The hotel was in an excellent location right in the centre of all amenities. The room was a good size with a large and very comfortable bed. It had a good-sized bathroom. We were upgraded to a room with a Juliet balcony with a view over the city which was very nice. The lady on reception on our first night was particularly friendly and helpful which was lovely and she also served us in the nice bar area. All the staff was very nice. The breakfast had a good selection - with both hot and cold choices available, plenty of juices, bottled water and teas and coffees.

Great location, clean room, hot power shower, comfortable bed. Probably the best hotel we stayed in during our time exploring Normandy. The restaurant downstairs does a great three course menu for 25 euros and serves food until about 9.30pm. Don’t miss the Farmers Market round the corner for breakfast bits if you’re in Caen on a Sunday.

The hotel was centrally located in Caen and was a short walk to the castle and to old town. We were 2 grandparents plus a family of 3 and we were able to get adjoining rooms, one with a balcony, at the front of the hotel. There was an elevator and the rooms were very quiet and came with air conditioning. We picked up our rental cars the morning we left so we didn’t need to worry about parking. However, I did notice there was an underground parkade across the street. The tram can be taken from near the train station and it will drop you a few blocks from the hotel. Or you could take a cab from the station for a reasonable rate as we did. The rooms were very modern and the beds were very comfortable. The gentleman on the front desk was both thoughtful and helpful. There were many places to eat and shop within walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was available at the hotel but we didn’t partake as we wanted to hit the road early. There was however a plate of croissants placed in the lobby for guests to help themselves to when they left. I would definitely recommend the Best Western Royal Hotel Caen for a one or multi-night stay!

Hotel is really centrally located, not far from the shopping street and the sights, such as the tomb of William the Conqueror. The breakfast was rich and as you would expect in France... fresh baguettes and croissants. Car park is directly opposite the hotel below the central square. The parking garage is directly across from the hotel, below the central square. Before entering, you have to report to the reception to get the reduced price (-3 euros). Traffic noise was present but not disturbing or overly loud.... so very good windows. Hotel room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. We had dinner in the restaurant right next to the hotel, which is also highly recommended.

Excellent location and value,very clean and the breakfast more than adequate. Staff were helpful and clear with their instructions.
